Selection of historical photographs Flickr Commons: Historical photographs from around the world

After the Library of Congress posted its works as Commons on Flickr, several other collections have since been added. I have briefly picked out a few highlights here. More will follow.

Brooklyn Museum: travel photography and world exhibition

The collection of the Brooklyn Museum provides insights into the photographs of William Henry Goodyear between 1895 and 1914 on research expeditions to various parts of the world. These include impressive glass slides of Egyptian buildings or Landscapes and daily life. Images like these were not uncommon in travel photography.

There are also hand-coloured photographs from the Paris World's Fair 1900.

Bibliothèque de Toulouse: Life in the Pyrenees around 1900

The collection of the Bibliothèque de Toulouse has scenes from life in the Pyrenees around 1900. There are photos of the town of Luchon, of walks and climbing tours in the mountains or of fairs and festivities.
