Accessibility information

rohles.net is a private website by author Björn Rohles, who specializes in user experience and digital strategy. I strive to make the website accessible in accordance with national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102. You can contact me by email at info@rohles.net.

Using rohles.net

Using rohles.net is very intuitive. You can find articles or information about my professional background using the menu, search function, or content area. My contents are split into categories. Using a menu in the header, you can choose between a light and a dark design or select the “Auto” setting to use your browser settings. You can also choose between German and English. Some content is not available in both languages. A corresponding note is displayed for this content.

Accessibility requirements

The information on accessibility contained here refers to my website at rohles.net. The requirements are based on the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) and the Verordnung zum Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSGV), derived from the European Accessibility Act (EAA). These laws and regulations refer to the Harmonized European Standard (EN) 301 549, version 3.2.1, based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 2.1, levels A and AA.

Degree of compliance

rohles.net meets the essential requirements of WCAG 2.2 (conformity level AA) and the technical requirements formulated in the BFSG. Below, I have summarized the most important aspects, divided into the four criteria of perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness.

Perceivability

On rohles.net, I use an easily readable font in a sufficient size and spacing, as well as sufficient color contrasts for text and visual elements. Typical browser and operating system settings for zoom function and font scaling are supported. I make sure to provide meaningful alternative text for images with content.

Usability

rohles.net can be operated using the keyboard. Focus jumps are based on the logical structure and are clearly highlighted. I also make sure that interactive elements are of sufficient size and have enough space between other elements. Navigation works in portrait and landscape format as well as in different browser sizes. I avoid complex path movements (such as drag-and-drop) and time limits. I also provide a link that allows users to skip the navigation.

Comprehensibility

Despite my rather technical content, I use clear and logical structures with short sentences and paragraphs. The navigation is named consistently.

Robustness and security

My website is largely implemented with semantically correct HTML and has been systematically validated. I do not use CAPTCHA barriers with visual puzzles and do not collect any personal data.

Non-accessible content

Despite careful review, there is some content that is not fully accessible, particularly complex tables. I am working on a solution and would be grateful for any information about non-accessible content.

Date and method

This document was last updated on August 8, 2025, and is based on an audit I conducted on ten selected pages of rohles.net.

You can send us feedback on any new accessibility issues you discover by emailing info@rohles.net. You are also welcome to ask questions about the accessibility issues mentioned here and the exceptions. Björn Rohles is responsible for this.
