Computer scientists play an important role in shaping the human future, and thus, they need a solid understanding of psychological foundations and principles of Human-Computer Interaction and User Experience. As a team of five PhD researchers, we adapted our course "Introduction to Human-Computer Interaction" to a full remote teaching due to Covid-19 restrictions. In the first part of the semester, students learned about the fundamental concepts of the field in interactive sessions. In the second part of the semester, students engaged in their own projects where they applied the principles and methods learned, under supervision of a tutor.

Digital media is increasing constantly in importance. In times of digitalization, the success of companies depends more and more on whether their digital products and services meet people's needs and provide a good user experience. Media scholars have great potential to design digital media in a user-friendly way and to adapt them to new usage needs. In a seminar at the University of Trier I taught students the basics of designing successful digital products and services.

Human Computer Interaction (HCI) focuses on the interaction of humans with technology and its effects. No wonder that HCI is part of the basic knowledge for computer scientists. The subject is multidisciplinary and draws on influences from very diverse fields, such as psychology, computer science, design, media, engineering... Together with three other PhD researchers, I taught the course "Introduction to Human-Computer Interaction" in the winter semester 2019 in the Bachelor Computer Science program at the University of Luxembourg. In the first part the students learned important theoretical basics which they could apply in their own projects in the second part.

The responses of users is of crucial importance for the success of any digital product, from shops or web sites to apps and portals. The consequence is a renewed interest in Usability and User Experience from the perspective of media studies. Professor Hans-Jürgen Bucher and I hold a master seminar where we helped students in five groups evaluating these important aspects using real digital products.

Startups and young enterprises use the internet as a marketing channel. I used the POST framework by Charlene Li and Josh Bernoff as an instrument to help founders create criteria for digital business success and evaluate various online marketing channels. I hold the seminar at the University of Trier as well as the Trier University of Applied Sciences.

Smartphones and apps are changing the digital world, but also leave a lot of people with open questions. I hold a seminar for the campus of generations (University of Trier) with six sessions, focussing on answering questions about the different platforms and how to use them, privacy and business aspects. We had a look at a variety of apps to help in the daily life and discussed the future of apps.
