Page not found Error 404

I am very sorry… but we could not find this content.

Welcome to my error page, the 404. What happened? Honestly, that is hard to tell. It could be my fault – maybe I moved a content without paying attention (please write me an email to info@rohles.net so that I know and can change it). Maybe you mistyped the URL or clicked on an old link. Whatever the reason may be, we are lost in digital space. There really is nothing to be seen here.

How to move on? You find several navigational options and a search function in the navigation above. They could help you finding the required information. But you could also go back to the home page.

404? What's this?

I am glad you ask – now that we are here, we can take the opportunity to talk about HTTP status codes.

  • HTTP is the abbreviation of "Hypertext Transfer Protocol". It is the network protocol being used to transfer data from web pages to your browser.
  • However, HTTP not only transfers the data itself. It also contains information about the status of the connection. These take the form of numbered status codes. They tell the browser what happened – e.g. whether the connection was successful or not.
  • "404" is one of these status codes. It stands for "content not found" and is telling the browser that the required content does not exist on the web site. Which brings us back to where we am now.
